About Expat Dinners

Have you ever wanted to invite a Dane - and perhaps their family - for dinner, but maybe didn’t want to ‘intrude’? Are you interested in receiving or giving an invitation?  Now, Expat Dinners gives you the excuse and opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

Background

Many Expats who leave Denmark after a relatively short time often cite their failure to interact with Danes as a reason for their departure. Specifically, ‘breaking the ice’ with Danes is often seen as one of the key issues to a successful stay in Denmark. Building friendships and networks with Danes is an essential ingredient in them feeling closer to Denmark and wishing to stay in here for a longer period of time.

At the same time, many Danes tell us that they would love to meet with expats and their and families, and welcome them into their homes for a dinner and hear more about them, and their experiences in Denmark.

How it works

Expat Dinners provides Expats and Danes a like the opportunity to connect over an informal dinner:

Expat Dinners - how it works

Expat in Denmark matches relevant families / couples / individuals based on location, and whether they have the capacity to invite, attend, or prefer to meet at a restaurant or café. Once the match has been made, you are free to make the arrangements that suit you best.

Expat in Denmark provides each participating family or couple with an introduction pack with possible themes for discussion, and a short guide to traditions, customs and culture.

Next scheduled Expat Dinners is in September 2010.
